Dearest Sophie,
I'm 23 years old and have been dancing since I turned 18. It saddens me to see what this business has become since then.
Nobody seems to dance any more.
They just walk from one end of the stage to the other, get off stage, milk the customers, get back on stage, walk from one end to the other, etc. Very few girls actually put on a show. They just shake their fake breasts, never breaking a sweat. I see a lot more flashing as opposed to teasing, and I noticed that the standards have been dramatically lowered. The clubs will hire anyone these days and make them work for tips. And nowadays it's almost impossible to put on a show because there are always 5 girls (more or less) on the stage because the owners suddenly feel that quantity outweighs quality. All it does is make it look awkward and unprofessional and makes it harder for the girls who entertain to actually dance. When I started dancing five years ago, the clubs paid $25 a set. Nowadays some clubs don't even pay $10 a set. The go-go business used to be lucrative and fun. Now it is just plain stressful. This business is going downhill fast. Clubs are losing their top dancers because the girls are sick of being overpaid and underappreciated. It's sad to see what used to be a sexy and entertaining form of erotica has become nothing but a breeding ground for headaches and prostitution. Am I bitter? Absolutely.
Yours truly,
"Kristen" I'm the one coming home with bruises and sprains and not enough money.
PS: I would pay for an honest, down and dirty magazine. I think you should speak your mind and be true to your heart. You may lose a little, but at least you will be able to sleep well at night. Believe me, people want the truth. You'll thank me later. Take care.
